results is kept on file in the student’s cumulative record folder.
Chapel
Students of Cornerstone attend a chapel service weekly. Chapel is a time
of praise, worship and learning about God. Once a month there is a
Family Chapel, with recognition of our Elementary Good Citizens and
students who exhibit the Fruits of the Spirit.
Communication
Information regarding school functions and activities are provided
through a Friday “Update” and the school newspaper, “The
Fisherman”. The School Board also publishes a quarterly update to
inform the school families, alumni and supporting church members about
Cornerstone.
In order to enhance parent/
teacher communication and the mutual understanding of a student’s
progress, there is one required parent conference during the school
year. This conference is held after the first grading period. However,
conferences may be scheduled throughout the year at the parent or
teacher’s request.
Extended Care
Extended Care is offered in the morning from 7:00 a.m.- 7:45 a.m. For
the afternoon, Extended Care begins at 3:30 p.m.- concluding at 6:00

Health Services
If a child becomes ill or injured at school, the office staff will
provide aid for the student. The staff will not disburse medicine
without permission from the parents and all medicine needs to be in a
correctly labeled container kept in the office. Accident Insurance
covers every registered student.
Lunch Program
Cornerstone provides a hot lunch program 5
a week from popular Poway restaurants including Hamburger
Factory, Subway, Denali's Pizza,
Pick-up-Stix and Rubios.
Student Information
Several opportunities exist to meet the varying talents and abilities of
our students. Awards are given to students who have excelled in specific areas: Honor
Roll, Conscientious Award and the Perfect Attendance Award.
The students of CCS may
participate in selected ASCI Student Activities. Throughout the school
year several opportunities arise to encourage children to use and
develop the gifts that they have been given.
Many grades participate in a
multiple day trip per year. These extended trips primarily focus on one
curricular area, but also provide wonderful opportunities for blending
subject areas in a meaningful, real life activity.

Volunteering at Cornerstone
Cornerstone
relies on its many volunteers to enhance the school program. Classroom
teachers may use parents to help in the classroom, plan parties, arrange
field trips, and much more. All parent volunteers must first report to
the office where they are required to sign in and wear a “Visitor’s
Badge.” Parents without a
visitors badge will not be allowed into the classroom.
Upon completion of your visit to the classroom all parents must
sign-out in the office and return their badge.
Parents who are “volunteering” in the classroom may not bring
younger siblings. We request
that all volunteers, actively support our school dress policy by
dressing in a modest and appropriate manner befitting of the classroom.
Please no flip flops, shorts or tank tops.
All volunteers prior to volunteering in the class must agree to and sign
a “Volunteer Code of Conduct” form.
All
parents, visitors and prospective students must check
in with the office immediately upon arrival to the campus.
Visitors will be asked to sign in and a “visitors badge” will
be issued.
This badge must be clearly visible and worn at all times
while on campus.
All visitors
upon completion of their visit are required to sign-out and turn
in their badge
Field Trips:
Field
trips are scheduled as part of the classroom curriculum.
The goal is to provide a fun, interesting learning
experience, not a social activity. Cornerstone considers field
trips a privilege. Safety is our highest concern. We do not allow
siblings to go on any school field trips.
A school permission slip must be signed by a parent or
guardian for every student attending a field trip.
No last minute phone calls for verbal approval will be
accepted. Transportation
will be arranged through the school.
The child’s teacher will notify parents in advance if
there is any extra field trip expenses.
Students who are not cooperative or fail to comply with school
policies may be denied field trip privileges. Poor behavior on a
previous trip can mean loss of privilege to go on the next field
trip.
Class Trips:
4th – Sacramento,
California
5th – Grand Canyon, Arizona
6th – Arrowhead Springs, California
7th – Catalina Island, California
8th – Washington D.C.
Class parties
All parties need to be arranged with the classroom teacher. The following
guidelines apply when planning a party: the classroom party includes all the
children in that class, no elaborate parties will be allowed, and the party
should be limited to about 30 minutes.
Dress Standard
All
school wear at CCS is to be reflective of our Christian values. Our standards
are designed to promote modesty, neatness and safety.
All uniforms must be purchased from
SUE MILLS
or FRENCH TOAST. Each company
provides a detailed list of CCS approved choices.
No other brands are acceptable.
At
all times CCS students are to be dressed in appropriate attire; whether on
campus or field trips. Students dressed inappropriately (not in the correct
uniform) will be removed from the classroom or activity. The student will be
asked to change their clothing to meet school standards. If necessary the parent
may be contacted and asked to provide the necessary change of clothing.
When appropriate, if a dress code violation cannot be remedied, the student may
be placed on in-house detention
until a change of clothing is brought or the student is taken home.
The administration reserves the right to decide the appropriateness of
any clothing issue.
Textbooks
Cornerstone provides the textbooks that are necessary for classroom instruction.
Students are responsible to maintain and cover the textbooks for the year. When
necessary the office will determine any fees due to lost or damaged textbooks.
Middle School Elective classes may incur an additional fee.
Gifts and Donations
Cornerstone
Christian
School
recognizes the value of gifts, donations, and fundraisers. These items make a
difference in the financial ability of our school to improve the quality of
learning for our students. Financial
donations provide for the enhancement of the educational program of the school,
the tuition assistance program and the continued improvement of the facilities.
Donations and gifts may be designated for a specific project or fund or your
choice.
Cornerstone also thanks its many
parents who generously contribute their time and resources in coordinating
activities for the students. Volunteers in our school provide for an increased
ability to support the student, staff and the community.
